Why make your own products?

Historically, I only bought economical products. Quick, fast, accessible. That also meant busted, fraying, fading, flaking, unraveling threads…

My first REAL leather handbag survived events, concerts, two car accidents, airports, sporting events, shopping carts, bleachers, vacations, heat, snow, wine spills…. It survived me.

Leathercraft is a skill. You have to be patient. The material is tough. Hand stitching is time consuming. The skillset is unique. The tools are special. The materials are timeless. Ultimately, it is an art. The creation of each item is an accomplishment. I can take pride knowing it will last years. Creating each item is fulfilling and enjoyable, which is not true of most jobs.
